The coffee bar was set up in the gymnasium of the Bluecoats School (in the left wing of the building photographed). It was necessary to move all the required furniture down from the the first floor each time we held Session. This was quite a chore, particularly the tables. The coffee and other refreshments were prepared and sold from a tiny "kitchen" just off the main room of the gymnasium. Most nights we had large numbers of youngsters coming in to hear the band and the good news of Jesus Christ.
The Sowers spread the Gospel The Sowers, the Chester gospel rhythm group attached to the Sunday youth club called Session, will start the New Year with gospel songs. Discussions will be followed to-morrow by tape recorded interviews with teenagers. The Sowers, formed three years ago, are all Chester men and members of the Kingsway Chapel. They have played in Northern Ireland and the Isle of Man and recordings by them have been played on the radio. As they are all members of Session they felt it would be only right for them to play on the first day of the New Year. – The Echo 31-12- 66
The Bluecoats School was a very apt place for Christian witness and outreach as it was the first charity school built outside London by the Society for the Propagation of Christian Knowledge. The building is now used as part of the Chester University.
